Supplies You May Want To Hoard:

1. “Spooky Scraps” Mood Board 🕷️
Dedicate a page to collecting spooky odds and ends—candy wrappers, ticket stubs from haunted houses, vintage Halloween illustrations, or your own sketches. Create little tuck spots and flip pockets to hide fun surprises...If you like the idea of hiding secrets in a coffin in your journal, I made a free printable where you can cut out and decorate your coffin you can find here!

Within the spread highlighted above, you'll see aluminum foil from one of my naan orders, the remains from a shiny orange plastic bag that once held clothes, and even a test scantron from some guy's storage unit he abandoned. It's hard to explain that I'm not a total mess (I mean, okay fine), but I'm stocking my craft supplies sustainably!
It just makes my heart happy to know that something that would typically end up in the trash is being revived in a new light within my artistic space. For example, when I was buying new hangers, I had snagged the sticker holding all the hangers together that said "neat freak" on an orange background because although I didn't know how to incorporate it yet, I knew it could be reused and made into something cool. With this spread, I finally was able to prove that to myself by using the "freak!" next to Mr. Frankenstein's coffin.
Anyone can turn trash into something meaningful with a vibe in mind, which is such a beautiful thing for the creatives who are foaming at the mouth to make things, but don't want to spend endlessly on a medium.
2. Gratitude & Cozy Rituals 🕯️
Fall journaling doesn’t have to be just scary or spooky—it can also highlight comfort. Make a gratitude log spread or a page about your favorite fall rituals (chai lattes, fuzzy socks, journaling nooks). Add little drawings of candles, sweaters, or a cozy thanksgiving meal, or print photos that remind you of the best fall memories you've made so far.
👉 Lean into the aesthetics that make you feel full of life whether that is warm tones, bright & eccentricity, or simple minimalistic themes for you.

3. Favorite Halloween Costume Inspo 👻
Dedicate a spread to your favorite Halloween costumes! Whether you use photos from your personal library or borrow ideas from Pinterest,
👉 This one is extra fun to build during a scrap sesh where you have unlimited access to trims, fabric bits, and paper ephemera.
4. Memories You Want To Be Haunted By 🧡
The best part of this one is that you get to live the experience twice: when you are making the memory, and when you are reflecting the beauty of it afterwards.
If you take a solo trip or bring your ghouls to the pumpkin patch, a haunted house, cider tasting, or end up in any other adventure, you can preserve the magical memories by printing photos that stood out to you, and adding them to spread that can revisited from any season in the future. I used my Fujifilm Instax Mini to capture that my dog Ellie and I were dressed as strawberry girls.

👉 Local touch: Save ticket stubs, wristbands, or brochures from your outing to create timeless nostalgia of how you had spent this season.
5. List The Things That Scare You 🎃
If you’re feeling like you really want to spike your blood pressure or simply face your fears as this season often is centered on, you can spend some time considering what invokes true fear for you. This reflective exercise isn't meant to keep you in a scared place, but actually allow you to name your weak spots and allow you space to reframe your perspective.
Fears can vary from physical things like spiders or snakes, to more conceptual things like abandonment, becoming trapped, or failing. Doing a brain dump regarding your fears could look like continuously writing without pausing, following the thoughts that surface in real time with your writing.
Try to interject a positive perspective to counter thoughts that you aren't satisfied with the nature of, and write that down, too. Letting big feelings out onto paper can be a safe outlet where you can observe what you like and don't like about your current viewpoint.
👉You don't have to have a completely new perspective, but if you can lighten the weight of something, or find more peace through having a better understanding of your stance, you'll have made a step towards your favorite self.
6. Halloween Movie Watch List 🎬
Create a cozy spread dedicated to your must-watch Halloween classics. Add a list of movies, hand-lettered titles, or ticket stubs if you go to a screening around Colorado Springs. Accent with popcorn stickers, washi tape “film strips,” and orange-and-black borders.
